The mother of Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is a fugitive from justice stemming from an arrest in Natick last year. Zubeidat K. Tsarnaeva was arrested on June 13, 2012, at Lord & Taylor in the Natick Mall after allegedly trying to steal seven dresses and two Adrianna Papells. Lord & Taylor loss prevention witnessed this and it was caught on security cameras, according to court documents. Additionally, Tsarnaeva allegedly damaged additional articles of clothing when cutting them to remove security devices. She was charged with larceny over $250 and two counts of malicious/wanton damage/defacement to property. A witness and an off-duty cop teamed up to catch the alleged purse thief after he fled Joe's American Bar and Grill on Newbury Street.
Boston Police arrested a 39-year-old Melrose man on Monday in Back Bay after he allegedly stole a pocketbook and was chased down by a Good Samaritan and an off-duty cop, according to a Boston Police press release. At about 7:18 p.m on Monday, Boston Police officers responded to a call for an officer in need of assistance in the area of 170 Commonwealth Ave., according to the release. On arrival, officers found a shirtless suspect in the custody of an off-duty officer.
