[Editor's note: The following Letter to the Editor was submitted by U.S. Senate candidate Brett Rhyne.] To the Editor: My name is Brett Rhyne, and I’m running as a write-in candidate for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in the April 30 primary. Why? Because I need a job. That’s only a little facetious. Since I stopped teaching at Salem State College in 2009, I’ve been unemployed or underemployed two-thirds of the time. Put another way, I haven’t been able to provide for my five-year-old boys for half their lives. [Editor's note: The following is a Letter to the Editor submitted by Martha Grover, the city's green energy coordinator.] Over the next year, Melrose will see 79 new solar PV installations thanks to everyone who supported and took part in the Solarize Melrose program launched in June. Solarize Melrose, which concluded on Nov. 4, was a renewable energy outreach program sponsored by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center that offered discounted pricing and rebates to homeowners with eligible roof space.  I would like to personally thank Lori Timmermann, who volunteered over 400 hours of her time over six months as the Melrose Solar Coach. This welcoming culture is a bigger draw than even our charming Main Street or bucolic parks. Carl, you raise good points, which I'll try to address. I don't believe the financial crisis was the result of any one factor. I do believe that "Wall Street excess" -- as shorthand for any number of mistakes and abuses -- was a major one. How big a factor was the CRA? Ron Paul says biggest, Paul Krugman says none. Letter: Celebrate Easter By Going to Church

David Lucas writes that Christians should remember the traditions of the Easter season.

To the Editor: Imagine if during Passover, one of the most celebrated Jewish holidays, most Jews in the United States decided to give up participating in a traditional seder, because it’s just "too boring."  Imagine if, little by little, they stopped retelling the incredible story of Passover (found in Exodus) to each other. Now imagine that they replaced this ancient tradition with stories about a magic bunny rabbit that drops chocolate eggs around the house. Imagine if, during Ramadan, Muslims stopped fasting, praying to God and focusing on morality, charity and sacrifice. Imagine that, after years of waning traditions, they instead celebrated Ramadan by just buying each other the most beautiful and expensive presents money can buy. …
