MHS Bomb Threat Sparks Investigation By Police, School Officials

A bomb threat recently written in a restroom at Melrose High School triggered school and emergency officials to investigate the incident Wednesday afternoon, according to a press statement issued by Superintendent Cyndy Taymore's office.

"It was brought to the attention of school officials at approximately 12:40 p.m. (Wednesday) that a message was written in the male restroom on the third floor of Melrose High School indicating a bomb threat with tomorrow’s date – 12/6/12," reads the statement. "School officials contacted the Melrose Police Department, along with the Melrose Fire Dept. UPDATED: Melrose Public Schools to Issue Statement on MHS Bomb Threat

Melrose High School issued an automated call shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday about a bomb threat made against the school for Thursday, according to a report from a reader.

Updated at 3:52 p.m. Dec. 5 Melrose Public Schools will be issuing a press statement regarding the reported bomb threat Thursday afternoon, according to the Superintendent's office. Initial Report Melrose High School issued an automated call Wednesday afternoon about a bomb threat made against the school for Thursday, according to a report from a reader.  In the automated call put out shortly before 3 p.m., High School Principal Marianne Farrell stated students can not use backpacks and they must enter through the main entrance Thursday, according to the report. Calls made by Melrose Patch to the High School went unaswered Thursday.
