A car crashed into a pole in the Main and Upham Streets area midday Thursday. We'll post more details as we receive them.
A car crashed into a pole in the Main and Upham Streets area midday Thursday. The crash reportedly happened around 12:20 p.m. Thursday. Wires were down at the scene, according to an unconfirmed scanner report. It appears the car involved in the crash was a silver sedan, which sustained some front-end damage and damage to the driver's side area. Melrose Police, Fire and DPW crews were on scene. It's unclear if anyone was injured or if the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene. Melrose Patch is awaiting response from Police and will post any updates we receive from them.

The downtown Main Street area revitalization work gets underway at 7 a.m. Monday.
With the revitalization work in the downtown Main Street area having started Friday, the project resumes Monday morning, according to the city's construction plan. With no work done over the weekend, the project gets picks back up at 7 a.m. Monday and through the day Tuesday, sidewalk and curbing work will begin at the intersections of Main and Grove, Main and Lynde, Main and Foster and Main and Upham Streets, according to the plan. "Work will also take place at existing mid-black crosswalks located between Upham and Foster and between Foster and Grove and at driveway entrances to Faulkner Place, Larrabee Place and Eastman Place," reads the plan. There was reportedly a stabbing on Main Street in Melrose early Monday morning. We'll provide additional details as we receive them.
UPDATED Monday at 2:43 p.m.: The stabbing took place in Malden, not Melrose, with police notified when the victim entered Melrose Shell. Original report: There was a stabbing on Main Street in Melrose early Monday morning, according to a scanner report. The incident occurred around 1 a.m., according to the report. The victim was reportedly transported to a hospital. Their condition is currently unknown. We'll provide additional details as we receive them.
