Melrose Police and ATF officers arrested two accused of drug dealing this week. One remains in custody on probation violations.
One suspect remains in custody on probation violations after two drug-related arrests by the Melrose Police and ATF this week. Xaviel Carasquillo, 27, of 100 Orange St., Chelsea, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (cocaine), possession of class A substance (heroin) and two distribution charges within a school zone. Anthony Vivolo, 42, of Melrose, was charged with intent to distribute a class B substance (cocaine) within a school zone. Carasquillo was arraigned at Malden District Court and was held for probation violations. He remains in custody at Cambridge jail. Vivolowas also arraigned at Malden District Court and released on personal recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear on Dec. 5.

A Stoneham man accused of running over a motorcyclist at a Melrose intersection Sunday morning pleaded not guilty to charges in a Malden court on Tuesday, according to officials. Eugene Ledonne, 76, of Stoneham, pleaded not guilty to charges of leaving the scene of accident after causing personal injury and assault and battery dangerous weapon (motor vehicle) in Malden District Court, according to Stephanie Guyotte of Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's Office. Judge Matthew Nestor released Ledonne on $300 bail with conditions of no driving and no contact with the victim, Guyotte added. A Melrose man was sentenced to five years in state prison Friday after a jury found he threw his infant son on the ground with force in Malden last summer. Carlos Edwards, 35, was found guilty Wednesday on all charges of assault and battery on a child causing bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, and reckless endangerment of a child. Middlesex Superior Court Judge Diane Kottmeyer sentenced the defendant to five years in state prison on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14. A Melrose man could face as much as 20 years in jail after a jury found him guilty Wednesday on three counts related to the July 2011 throwing of his young infant son. Carlos Edwards, 33, was found guilty of assault and battery on a child with bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, and reckless endangerment of a child after throwing his infant son Carmello Sears onto a Malden sidewalk during an argument with the child's mother. Malden resident Crystle Sears told jurors that her child's father 'forcefully' threw their seven-week-old infant onto a Cedar St. sidewalk during an argument about her drug use.
The mother of a young baby allegedly thrown onto a Malden sidewalk by the baby's own father testified against him at his criminal trial in Woburn Friday, telling the court he forcefully threw the infant over her person and said “take your (expletive) baby—I hope you both die” before fleeing the scene on foot.
