Hey......I hear what you are saying....I'm not tone deaf.....one of the prime reasons for increasing the salary is to attract competent and capable candidates during the next election scheduled in 2015. Dave.....you know that the Chamber is made up of independent business leaders in the community......who are more concerned about the health of their businesses than being friends with the Mayor. Their livelihood is based on profit not friendship with the Mayor......and once this is clearly understood, your comments make little sense. Any business operating in a community where the climate is …   more ›

You have to be kidding me. He is either out of touch with reality or is just arrogant. Working class families, the real ones, not the ones Senator Lyawatha speks about, just got a 2% uptick in taxes this month and this hack wants a raise? Note to Mayor- your position should be part time. Your salary is derived from the tax payer. The tax payer is being challenged more and more to meet neccessary …   more ›

Rob Dolan is one of the most supportive mayors of marriage equality. He welcomed same sex couples with open arms the first day registration was possible back in 2004. Rob has continually supported across the board equality. He is a warm, caring man who sees beyond 'labels' that compartmentalize individuals.   more ›

City Plans to Renovate Lincoln School Playground

The Lincoln Elementary School project was expected to happen in 2014; however, a recent $25,000 donation from the owner of a Dunkin' Donuts in Melrose has helped pushed the project's timetable to 2013.

While it appeared renovation work would not begin until 2014, a recent donation from a Melrose business has the Lincoln Elementary School playground project on track for this year. George Scrivanos, franchisee of the Dunkin Donuts location at 348 Main St., and Dunkin' Donuts made a $25,000 donation to the Lincoln School playground project, according to Mayor Rob Dolan. During a recent press conference, Dolan said he will propose the city contribute an additional $10,000 toward the project. "Mr. Scrivanos and Dunkin' Donuts stepped up to the plate as a major contributor to the skate park several years ago, and once again he has shown his generosity in making this project a reality," Dolan said in a press statement. The playground project is…
