Menino Hosts Massachusetts Delegation of Mayors Against Illegal Guns

Since the Newtown school tragedy, 14 Massachusetts mayors, including Mayor of Melrose Rob Dolan, have joined the Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino hosted the Massachusetts delegation of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition, which includes Mayor of Melrose Rob Dolan, Thursday as they continued their push on Congress to enact national legislation that will decrease gun violence. “Earlier this week, I asked the City of Boston to stand with us on guns and say enough is enough,” said Menino at the Parkman House on Beacon Street. “As Mayors, we have a responsibility to our residents to do all we can to make our neighborhoods safer. Today, we’re calling on every community in Massachusetts to stand with us. Melrose Mayor to Discuss Gun Reform with Fellow Mass. Mayors

Melrose Mayor Rob Dolan will meet with Boston Mayor Tom Menino and the Massachusetts delegation of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns on Thursday.

Melrose Mayor Rob Dolan will head into Boston Thursday and join more than a dozen Massachusetts mayors to discuss ways to move forward with gun reform.  The meeting will include Massachusetts mayors who are a part of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a group co-chaired by Boston Mayor Tom Menino. According to a press statement issued by Menino's office Wednesday, Thursday's meeting will feature discussion on how to "continue to pressure Congress to take action on common sense gun control." The mayors will talk over ways to mobilize constituents and build support for gun reform, the press statement said.
