Grant Funding Available For Community Art Projects in Melrose

Local artists looking to take on art projects that involve the community can apply for grant funding made possible by the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts through May 15.

Local artists looking to take on art projects that involve the community can apply for grant funding through May 15, according to a city of Melrose press statement. The grants, made possible through the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts, are available to individuals and organizations who are planning arts activities that take place in the city and are administered by the Messina Grants Committee, according to the statement.  Grant criteria include local focus, value to the community, and innovative qualities, and preference will be given to projects that include an opportunity to share the outcome with the Melrose community in the form of a demonstration, art show, or performance, reads the statement. Last Chance: Talk With Artist Michele Lauriat

Laurait will speak at the Milano Senior Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. after completing artist residencies this past winter at The Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks.
