A year ago "an outside consultant (was brought in) to review police operations, as I have done with other departments in the city," Dolan said in the statement. The consultant was brought in to investigate overtime costs associated with each shift, according to the statement. Donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund have already reached over $10,000 this holiday season, according to a city press statement.

Donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund have already reached over $10,000 this holiday season, according to a city press statement. “Every year I am amazed and touched by the generosity of our residents,” said Mayor Rob Dolan in the statement. “Even in these uncertain fiscal times, the people of Melrose are willing to reach out to help their neighbors. Dolan Swears In Two New Firefighters

Melrose Fire Department's newest firefighters are Patrick Rose and Jeremy Marrache. Both were sworn in on Tuesday at City Hall.

Mayor Rob Dolan swore in the two newest members of the Melrose Fire Department in a brief ceremony in City Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 18, according to a city press statement.  The city's newest firefighters are Patrick Rose and Jeremy Marrache. Mayor Rob Dolan announced Thursday that he will be renewing Melrose Police Chief Mike Lyle's contract.

Mayor Rob Dolan announced Thursday that he will be renewing Melrose Police Chief Mike Lyle's contract. "I have made the decision to extend Police Chief Mike Lyle's contract for an additional three years," Dolan said in a statement. "His contract does not expire until a year from now; however, per his contract, a decision would have to be made by December 2012.
