When Melrose Patch launched a couple years ago, editors and freelancers ventured to local businesses to collect information for our directory. Now, more than a year later, our directory section is a spot where users can find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods and much more for spots around town. All users can add events taking place at local spots, can rate the business on a scale of one to five stars, and can add a review. But owners of local businesses get extra bonuses when they claim a listing. A Fond Farewell
Mark Ouellette, who has served as editor of Melrose Patch since August, will be taking over as editor of Stoneham Patch starting Monday.
After spending more than nine months as editor of Melrose Patch, I will be taking over the editorial duties at Stoneham Patch. I have enjoyed getting to know Melrosians either in person or via Melrose Patch's social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. From day one it was always apparent just how much you cared about your community and the various activities happening in it, and I greatly appreciate all your help along the way whether it be blog submissions or news tips. Whether it was blizzard and election coverage, updates on Whole Foods' plans to take over Johnnie's Foodmaster or, most recently, the tragic death of a World War II veteran in a MBTA bus accident, there was always something happening in this busy city.
