Bomb Threat Locks Down Melrose-Wakefield Hospital

The anonymous call early Saturday afternoon said that an explosive device was located within a secure area of the hospital.

(Editor's Note: This article was updated at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.) An anonymous bomb threat led to a lockdown of Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Saturday afternoon and the investigation remains ongoing. According to a Melrose Police press release, at 1:22 p.m. hospital staff reported to police that they had received an anonymous call informing them of an explosive device located within a secure area of the hospital. Both Melrose Police and Fire Departments responded and the hospital was advised to follow their protocol regarding evacuation of the building, according to the press release. Judy: Rule 14, as approved by the city, states that "Professional dog trainers may not use this facility for the conduct of their business, unless authorized by the City of Melrose." Regarding how you would know the person is a trainer, I can't say for sure. MedFlight Update: Mom, Daughter OK After Emergency C-Section

The woman's husband and proud new father emailed Melrose Patch with an update.

Almost three weeks ago, a Boston MedFlight helicopter landed on the East Knoll on Tuesday, June 5 during rush hour to transport a Melrose-Wakefield Hospital patient to a Boston hospital, with onlookers wondering what happened. Turns out that the emergency transfer was due to complications following an emergency cesarean section, but both mother and newborn daughter are now home and doing well, according to the woman's husband and proud new dad, who recently emailed Melrose Patch. He emailed looking for a copy of the video of the MedFlight taking off from the Knoll (viewable on the right) and agreed to share details about what happened.
