For our latest "You Ask, Patch Answers," column, a reader asked us: When is Melrose's last day of school? We reached out to Superintendent Cyndy Taymore's office to find out what the tentative last day of school is for Melrose Public Schools after having to cancel school a handful of times due to poor weather. "Right now, the last day of school is scheduled for Thursday, June 20," wrote Diane Hogan, who works in the superintendent's office, in an email to Melrose Patch Wednesday. When Is The Last Day of School For Melrose Public Schools?

Find out when the last day of school is for Melrose Public Schools.

For our latest "You Ask, Melrose Patch Answers," a reader wanted to know this: When is the last day of school for Melrose Public Schools? We contacted the superintendent's office to find out the answer. After having three no-school days, the last day of school was pushed back to June 18, according to the superintendent's office. However, with winter not over yet there is a possibility the date could be changed should more school days be canceled. Meanwhile, the Melrose High School graduation is slated for May 31, according to the superintendent's office.

There will be no school on Monday for Melrose Public Schools, according to a city press statement. St. Mary of the Annunciation School will also be closed on Monday, according to the WHDH website. "Because of the high volume of snow due to this weekend’s storm, Superintendent of Schools Cyndy Taymore and I have decided to cancel school on Monday," Mayor Rob Dolan said in the statement, adding that the decision is for safety reasons and also to give parents time to make child care arrangements for Monday. All Melrose Public Schools and St. Mary's School will be closed on Friday due to the blizzard, according to Mayor Rob Dolan's blog.

Melrose Public Schools and St. Mary's School will be closed on Friday due to the blizzard, according to a city press statement. While schools will be closed, municipal buildings, including City Hall, will shut down at noon on Friday until 7 a.m. Monday. A parking ban goes into at 5 p.m. Friday. All snow-related calls will be fielded by the City Yard at 781-665-0142.

Melrose PTOs to Show 'A Girl's Life'

The PTOs for Melrose High School and Veterans Memorial Middle School will be showing the PBS documentary "A Girl's Life" and holding a panel discussion in mid-February, according to the Melrose Public Schools website.

The parent-teacher organizations for Melrose High School and Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School will be showing the PBS documentary "A Girl's Life" and holding a panel discussion in mid-February, according to the Melrose Public Schools website. "A Girl's Life" is by author Rachel Simmons and the book focuses on the lives of four teen girls that discuss a variety of topics, including body image and cyberbullying, according to the site. Finding a COMPETENT BCBA for the special ed department. We have been without one for nearly 4 months. Better yet, maybe appoint more than one, as it seems to be a heavy load to have one person responsible for all of the elementary schools + pre-K. Our kids cannot wait any longer.   more ›
