Investigators: Accused Child Molester Showed Porn to Toddlers

John Burbine's attorney has asked a judge to dismiss eight of the 100 charges filed against him.

The lawyer for accused child molester John Burbine has asked a judge to dismiss eight of the 100 charges his client is facing, saying his own client reached a "level of deviancy and perversion" unanticipated by the law, given the very young age of the victims from Melrose and neighboring communities. Attorney Bill Barabino has filed a motion to dismiss six counts of aggravated rape of a child and two counts of dissemination of matter harmful to minors. This would still leave Burbine facing some 92 counts. His wife, Marian, faces additional charges of reckless endangerment of a child for operating an illegal day care center in Wakefield where many of the victims' families were clients. Senate GOP Plans Comprehensive Sex Offender Legislation

Mass. Senate Republican Leader Bruce Tarr plans to introduce legislation in January.

Senate Republicans expect to file comprehensive legislation during the new session aimed at reforming how information about sex offenders is shared between law enforcement and other officials. The bill is a response to the ongoing case involving Wakefield resident John Burbine and the nearly 100 counts of child sex abuse he is facing. His wife, Marian Burbine, is also facing charges in the case for running an illegal daycare and for reckless endangerment. Burbine allegedly sexually abused children from Melrose and several nearby communities. Burbine Pleads Not Guilty To Nearly 100 Child Sex Counts

John Burbine was arraigned Wednesday morning and pleaded not guilty to numerous charges. He is due back in court on Jan. 15.

Wakefield resident John Burbine pleaded not guilty to nearly 100 child sex abuse charges at his arraignment Wednesday morning in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn. Burbine, 49, was arrested earlier this year and charged with numerous abuse violations involving children primarily under the age of 3. Burbine spent much of the hearing looking straight ahead behind glass in a separate room, answering questions primarily with one-word responses. Unlike in the booking photo released by the District Attorney's office earlier in the month, his hair was almost completely white, with black eyebrows.
