As of 1:45 p.m., 860 Melrosians experienced power outages after a phase came down in the right-of-way at Burnett Street, according to the spokesperson. Burnett Street is located near Burnett Park in the Mt. Hood section of town. National Grid customers who qualify now have until April 16 to pay their utility bills.

Strong wind gusts are expected all day, possibly knocking down tree limbs and causing power outages.
Winds could gust to 50 miles per hour on Friday, taking down small tree limbs and branches that could cause power outages, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned in a statement on Thursday night. A wind advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. until midnight on Friday; wind advisories are issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or with gusts ranging between 46 and 57 miles per hour. The NWS said southern New England will see sustained winds blowing 20 to 30 miles per hour to the southwest on Friday, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour.
