Melrose Man Among Victims in R.I. Nightclub Fire 10 Years Ago

February 20th, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the Rhode Island nightclub fire that claimed the lives of 100 people, including a Melrose man, according to the Boston Globe. Jeffrey W. Martin, 33, a Stoneham native, was the only Melrosian that perished during the blaze, according to the Globe. Martin was a former employee of Fidelity Investments and a lawyer with John Hancock Insurance Co., according to a victim profile published by the Globe. "He studied hard, worked hard, and played hard," said his mother, Suzanne Fox of Carson City, Nev., in the profile. "He was a go-getter." Leave it to Rhode Island to try and seize a property that was the site of such a great tragedy, using eminent domain as the excuse. Rhode Island is such a disgusting state, I can't believe I spent almost 10 years of my life living under that ridiculous government.   more ›
