A number of name brands are included in the recall.
The FDA announced a major recall of pet products that affects a number of brands. Kasel Associated Industries of Denver is voluntarily recalling all products manufactured at its Denver facility from April 20, 2012, to Sept. 19, 2012, because of possible Salmonella contamination. The brands included in the recall are Boots & Barkley, BIXBI, Nature’s Deli, Colorado Naturals, Petco, and Best Bully Stick items, according to the FDA. The FDA reported that Kasel has not received any reports of illnesses because of the possible contamination. Check the label before seving your kids hot chocolate this morning. Nestlé USA announced the voluntary recall of limited quantities of Nestlé NESQUIK® Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters. According to the FDA's website, the voluntary recall is limited to only NESQUIK Chocolate Powder, which was distributed nationally. No other varieties of NESQUIK powder or any sizes or flavors of NESQUIK ready-to-drink are affected by this recall. Nestlé said it is removing the canisters from distribution because the company was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc. that it has issued a recall of certain lots of its ingredient, calcium carbonate due to possible presence of Salmonella. Responding to what it called a "fast-moving outbreak" of salmonella-caused sickness in at least 19 states, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Friday that the company recall of nut butter products made by Sunland Inc. and sold under many labels has more than doubled to at least 240 products. The recall list includes several well-known brands and a variety of peanut butter products as well as almond butter, cashew butter, tahini, and roasted blanched peanut products. The recall is because of potentially-contaminated peanut butter sold in Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes.
Starbucks, which has a location in Melrose, Protein Bistro Boxes are being recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination. Flying Food Group is voluntarily recalling Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box with Enjoy By dates 8/10/12 to 10/6/12, which includes Justin’s Nut Butter 0.5-ounce single-serve Honey Peanut Butter squeeze packs. The voluntary recall of salmonella-tainted peanut and almond butter has expanded beyond Trader Joe’s stores to include more than 70 products sold nationwide. Thirty people across 19 states have reported salmonella food poisoning that was later linked to the contaminated nut butters, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. One of those cases was in Grafton, reported WBZ-TV. Jackson Henson, 4, of South Grafton, became ill with salmonella after eating tainted peanut butter, and his family has filed a lawsuit against Trader Joe's in Shrewsbury, WBZ reported.
