Michael Garvey, 51, of Melrose; Kenneth Clement, 67, of Attleboro; Vadim Mkrtychev, 37, of West Roxbury; James Mulrey, 45, of Canton; and Donald Potts, 47, of Medford, all Massport employees each charged with accepting a corrupt gift, were released on personal recognizance following their respective arraignments in East Boston District Court, according to the statement. Five Massport employees, including one from Melrose, were arrested Tuesday for allegedly taking bribes from taxi drivers in exchange for preferential – and illegal – treatment at Logan Airport’s cab stands, according to a press statement. According to the statement, Massachusetts State Police Colonel Timothy Alben, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley, and Massport CEO and Executive Director Thomas Glynn announced the arrests of: Michael Garvey, 51, of Melrose; Kenneth Clement, 67, of Attleboro; Vadim Mkrtychev, 37, of West Roxbury; James Mulrey, 45, of Canton; and Donald Potts, 47, of Medford. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement.
Updated at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is instituting a parking ban starting at 9 p.m. Saturday due to the snowstorm, according to a State Police press statement. "...The Department of Conservation and Recreation or DCR will institute a parking ban on all of their roads in anticipation of the pending storm," reads the statement. "These roads are all around parks, waterways and areas generally patrolled by the State Police. "All vehicles not removed from these areas will be towed to allow for snow removal and emergency access." State Police initially reported the ban would begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, but sent out a second press statement with the corrected time of 9 p.m.

A suspect led police on a high-speed pursuit on Interstate 93 late Thursday night, according to a scanner report.
A suspect led police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 93 late Thursday night, according to a scanner report. Shortly before midnight, State Police attempted to stop a driver allegedly traveling over 100 miles per hour on the highway, according to the report. The suspect was last seen by a detail officer at Route 28 and Pond Street in Stoneham, according to the report. Stoneham and Melrose police were notified about the incident, the report added. State and Melrose police were standing by at the suspect's residence on Pleasant Street in Melrose, according to a Twitter report. We'll provide an update once we obtain more information.

Espinoza Montero, 34, of Melrose, was the man pulled from a Saugus lake Sunday evening who later succumbed to his injuries, according to an Associated Press report on the Boston Globe website. Montero, who was listed in critical condition Sunday after being retrieved from Pearce Lake at Breakheart Reservation, succumbed to his injuries at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, according to a State Police press statement.
