BREAKING: Melrose DPW Making Emergency Repairs to Ruptured Water Main

The Melrose Public Works Department's Water Division is working on emergency repairs to the water system on Main Street near Ingalls Court in the block between Upham Street and Emerson Street on Tuesday, according to Director John Scenna.

I-93 Bridge Project Closures and Detours: Aug.19-22

Paving work will close lanes on I-93 north of Boston in Medford this weekend.

Crews have finished replacing 14 bridges on I-93 in Medford, but paving work this weekend is expected to cause closures and delays on the interstate. From 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, crews will work to install a new layer of pavement on I-93 North from Exit 29 in Somerville to Exit 34 in Stoneham. The left two lanes on I-93 North from Exit 29 to Exit 34 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, when of them will be reopened until about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. At that time, both lanes will be again closed until 9 a.m. Sunday. The work will close the northbound exit ramp at Exit 29. 'Fast14' I-93 Construction Project Enters Final Leg

Work to replace the 14th and final bridge superstructure slated for August 12 to August 15.

The end is near. The Fast14 rapid bridge replacement project on I-93 in Medford will replace its 14th and final bridge this weekend. As usual, the work will begin Friday at 7:45 p.m. and continue through 5 a.m. Monday. It will narrow I-93 to two lanes between Exit 28 in Somerville and Exit 36 in Stoneham. This weekend's work will replace a bridge that takes I-93 South over Route 16. As result, Route 16 will be closed to both directions of traffic near the highway. Southbound I-93 on-ramps will be closed at exits 31, 32 and 34. Exit 33 will be available for local traffic only. Fellsway will be used as the primary local detour route for the weekend. As of this week, 12 of 14 bridge replacements on I-93 are complete. This weekend, the "93Fast14" project continues, with the bridges that carry I-93 southbound over Riverside Avenue in Medford will be replaced. Work begins on Friday, Aug. 5 at 7:45 p.m. and continues through Monday, Aug. 8 at 5 a.m. Below is a list of this weekend's work and detours. This weekend's road and exit closures due to the I-93 bridge replacement project.

Construction on I-93 this weekend will close one Medford road, narrow the highway to two lanes and close a channel of the Mystic River to boaters. Work continues this weekend on the on-going "Fast14" rapid bridge replacement project. From 7:45 p.m. Friday, July 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, I-93 will be narrowed to two lanes from Exit 28 in Somerville to Exit 36 in Stoneham. Access to and from many of the ramps on I-93 South in this area will be restricted. This week's work will replace structures that carry the highway south over Webster Street and the Mystic River. As result, Webster Street will be closed and the Mystic River channel near the highway will be closed to boaters. The on-ramps to I-93 South from Fellsway West at Exit 34, …

Over the course of the last six weekends, MassDOT has demolished and replaced nine of the fourteen bridges that are a part of the 93Fast14 bridge replacement project on I-93. All of the bridge replacements will be complete by the end of August. This weekend’s work locations involve the bridge on I-93 South over Route 28 South (Fellsway)/Valley Street in Medford and the center span on the bridge on I-93 South over the Mystic River.
