They definitely need to add a way to /ignore certain posters. The political rants are so annoying and pointless. The last election post had over 400 comments. Does it seriously take that long for people to realize that nobody is going to change someones mind over the internet.. ever. Such a waste of time.

That's an amazing story Allison. Don't think for a second because you didn't finish the race due to what happened, that you don't deserve that medal. I would think you deserve two for what you endured and then to go back the next day after going through the emotional roller coaster.. you certainly earned it.

    For other reforms:

    1. This wasn't already in place or a concern?
    2. $5 cash, or $5 off their EBT card? The latter is worthless.
    3. Why could they buy "prohibited" items, if they were "prohibited" already?
    4. Again, this wasn't already done?
    5. Yet again, nobody monitored this?
    6. How did they get approved in the first place?
    7. Another well thought out action that should have been in place.

The fact that these "reforms" are only being made now and weren't included as part of the inception of the Welfare Program just shows how little accountability these systems have and continue to have. It's pathetic to see how much this bloated system costs tax payers, and lets the freeloaders leech off the system with little to no accountability.

Well the definition of "free" differs for the law-abiding and less honest individuals out there "Turner". All I can control is what I do and I don't consider this that big of an infringement if I make an effort that I should be making anyway.

My company instituted this in 2013 for smoking. You're asked to declare if you're a Smoker, Non-Smoker, or Smoker With Intent to Cease. Non-Smokers get a lower rate for medical, but the company offers TONS of free assistance to help Smokers kick the habit including discounted classes and groups, and free Nicotine alternatives like gum, etc.

This is where company sponsored healthcare is headed. If they're going to front higher and higher costs they're going to want a return on their investment and I can't totally fault them for it. If you're a more high risk patient, than you will cost the company more money and they're going to want a piece of that back in some form, which in this case is in the form of a higher premium. Isn't that more of an incentive to live a healthier lifestyle though?

I don't feel like this accurately represents Melrose's COL numbers. Granted we think we are a nicer city than we are, that $82k number is very skewed because we're in the same county as towns like Winchester, Cambridge, Weston and Lexington. All of which have far higher cost of living and per capita income.

Melrose is funny to me sometimes because we promote the small town USA style living, but then we see how some people price their houses as if they live in Newton or something, and I scratch my head. What I could buy here for $400k, could put me in a house triple the size most anywhere else.

Not only did she laugh out loud, she typed she spent the extra time to type 'capital H, lowercase a' 5x over.

Regardless of whether the story meant they eliminated honors recognition completely, or moved to include other "fake" recognition for mediocre students, the point remains. Excelling in life deserves reward and recognition. A perfect example is our current President, Congress, and members of Government. How well do we reward and recognize their clearly apathetic performance? How different do you think it would be if they were actually over achieving and doing what's expected of them? We'd be treating them FAR different and with MUCH more respect.

Life is hard. Working hard should be recognized and rewarded. Not devalued by somehow convincing everyone else that they're accomplishments are as good as someone who puts in more effort. They're not. It's sad, but true.

What's the point of the state allowing the dispensaries only to let individuals cities and towns make the decision again on whether they're allowed or not? Case of redundant political efforts. They'll just make the inspection and petition process so convoluted and expensive locally that nobody will WANT to open a dispensary here.
