Police Investigating Report of a Flasher in Melrose

Police are investigating a report of lewdness that took place on Laurel Street Thursday night in Melrose.

Police are investigating a report of lewdness that took place on Laurel Street Thursday night, according to a Community Alert posted on the Melrose Police Department website.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. Oct. 3 on Laurel Street near Gooch Street, according to the alert. A man allegedly exposed himself to people walking toward him while asking if he could speak to them, the alert adds.

"The two female victims screamed and fled," reads the alert. "They state the suspect also fled on foot westbound on Laurel Street."

The suspect is described as being about 5-foot-8, approximately 160 pounds, with dark curly hair and light complexion, according to the alert. The suspect was reportedly wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, black jeans and sneakers, the alert adds.

A message left with Lt. Det. Mark DeCroteau Friday afternoon seeking additional details went unreturned.
