Red Sox Slugger David Ortiz to Give Baseball Clinic in Melrose on Monday

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz will be having a baseball clinic in Melrose on Monday afternoon near Melrose High School.

Ortiz, a nine-time All-Star and designated hitter for the Red Sox, will lead a one-day Hannaford David Ortiz Baseball Clinic from 4-6:30 p.m. Sept. 30 near Melrose High School at Fred Green Field and Morelli Baseball Field. In the event of inclement weather, the clinic will be relocated indoors to the Marcoux Gym. He will be joined by a selection of the top prep and college coaches from the area, according to a press statement.

The clinic is for boys and girls in grades 1-8 and focuses on baseball fundamentals, and groups will be small to ensure each attendee gets personalized instruction, according to the statement.

Ortiz will talk about various aspects of the game, and all participants will receive an autograph from the slugger, a team photo with David, an official clinic t-shirt and the opportunity to win additional prizes.
